Visual field testing Wimbledon
Here at Fiona Watt Optometrists, we provide visual field testing in Wimbledon at our practice as a method of measuring an individual’s entire scope of vision, both the central and peripheral (side vision). Visual field testing maps the visual fields of each eye individually and can detect blind spots (scotomas) as well as more subtle areas of dim vision. It is a way of measuring how much vision you have in each eye and how much vison loss may have occurred over time. The size and shape of the scotoma can help in the diagnosis of certain eye diseases.
Visual field testing is part of your eye examination at Fiona Watt Optometrists. The Frequency Doubling Technology field analyser is a fast and effective way of detecting visual fields loss. Our Optometrist will compare, measure, monitor and review your visual field results at every eye examination from your baseline results.

- Multiple sclerosis.
- Hyperthyroidism.
- Pituitary gland disorders.
- Central nervous system problems (such as a tumour that may be pressing on visual parts of the brain).
- Stroke.
- Retinal tear/detachment.
- Retinitis pigmentosa
Humphrey’s Visual field Analyser
Another piece of equipment the practice is proud to own. The Humphrey’s Visual Fields Analyser is the gold standard in visual field equipment used in most hospital eye settings and is a very important diagnostic tool in evaluating patients with various eye conditions especially in the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma. The Humphrey’s field analyser incorporates many visual field screening programmes, from visual field screening to full threshold testing which can detect even the slightest drop in sensitivity, binocular esterman test and many more.
Local ophthalmologist refer patients to our practice to have this visual field test done for monitoring and detecting eye conditions.
