Contact Lenses and Make-up
Eye make-up is a common and irritable problem for contact lens wearers. We regularly get asked if both can be worn simultaneously. We don’t recommend you ditch your eye make-up and sacrifice the way you look. Our optometrist have put together some tips to help you apply and remove your make up with contact lens wear, allowing you to look glamorous as well as giving you the best possible vision.
- Wash your hands and insert your contact lenses.
- Apply your make-up. We recommend non-hypo allergic make-up and use water based creams as oppose to oil based cream. Oil based creams can block the Meibomian glands on your eye lids and increase the lipid quantity in the tear film giving you blurred vision.
- On removing your contact lenses, wash your hands thoroughly and then remove your contact lenses.
- Use make-up remover to remove your make up.
Bacteria can grow on your eye make-up products and brushes, hence we recommend you regularly replace your make-up and clean your brushes as recommended by the supplier. For help and assistance in choosing the right contact lenses, contact our experienced and knowledgeable team direct on 020 8944 6886.
