I wanted to send you all a quick update as some of you have emailed and texted asking if we shall be suspending services again during this lockdown following the Government’s announcement on Monday 4th January 2021:
Reading the last update from the College of Optometrists, they have advised optometrists to continue to follow the amber guidance and prioritise emergency and essential cases. The national lockdown will not impact optometry as enhanced PPE and operating procedures are in place.
Amber Phase guidance, issued by the College of Optometrists in June 2020, recommended that emergency and essential cases be prioritised but allows optometrists to provide care outside of these specifications also.
So please assume we remain fully operational, and if you have upcoming appointments, they remain in place.
As before, if you have any concerns or questions, feel free to drop us an email or give us a quick call.
If I receive an update that differs from this, I will send out a further email ASAP.
Wishing you all well over the next few weeks.
Best Wishes Neha Patel & the Fiona Watts Optometrists Team
